Hugh Logan, Director General for the Department of Conservation becomes Trustee

In March 2004 Hugh Logan, Director - General of the Department of Conservation was invited by Chairman Murray McKee to join the Foundation as a Trustee.
Hugh Logan confirmed his acceptance of the position and the Foundation consequently enjoys a very strong relationship with the department.
Currently that relationship is being strengthened with the Foundation taking on greater responsibility in fundraising and sponsorship for DOC projects and species recovery work.
More news on that will be put on the website once details are formalised.
Excerpt from the Memorandum of Understanding
The New Zealand National Parks and Conservation Foundation has a Memorandum of Understanding with the Department of Conservation that was signed on 6 September 2001.
The MoU confirms that the Department of Conservation and the Foundation work together on a co-operative basis as their respective obligations allow.
In addition the Department of Conservation agrees to;
- provide the Foundation with proposals of conservation projects for funding according to the Foundation's criteria and funding process
- provide the Foundation with advice and staff time
- support promotions of the Foundation through staff time, free access to images provided copyright is acknowledged and subject to Mataurangi Maori; and provide corporate volunteer opportunities for Foundation sponsors by arrangement
- Refer sponsorship queries to the Foundation and enable the Foundation to locate donation boxes in visitor centres on a case by case basis with the appropriate security for them
