A Major Sponsorship by Kathmandu
Kathmandu's Lizard Conservation is the latest significant new sponsorship to be announced by the Foundation. Kathmandu were initially brought into a conservation sponsorship through Dawn Chorus where they joined a small group of companies as an inaugural supporter. As Kathmandu marketing manager Mark Williamson puts it " Kathmandu is a leading outdoor retail company. We have always wanted to reinforce this positioning with a sponsorship that focused on New Zealand, the country and especially the wilderness areas. It was however only when we were approached by Jane Arnott from the Foundation that we realized the opportunity to develop a 'public private' conservation sponsorship could be easily put in place.
We were introduced to lizard experts, scientists, field workers even an alpine gecko sniffing border terrier - a formidable survey team for alpine zones. Our existing and world recognized Lizard logo made our choice of sponsorship relatively straightforward. From a business perspective being able to align yourself with Lizard Conservation in New Zealand is a great marketing coup.
