Transpower Grants - Conserving, Protecting and Enhancing
New Zealanders love for the environment is again being supported by the annual Transpower Grants. The Transpower Grants are administered by the New Zealand National Parks and Conservation Foundation in a partnership arrangement that goes back four years. $70,000 is now available to assist projects that; seek to protect and enhance the conservation estate, promote the involvement of communities in caring for the natural environment, or lead to a better understanding of endangered species and their habitats. Community groups, post graduate students, researchers and conservation stakeholder groups are eligible to apply for funding. Communications manager Chris Roberts says Transpower takes its environmental responsibilities seriously. "The Foundation has done a great job in selecting the successful applicants on our behalf and to date over 35 worthy projects right across New Zealand have benefited. In many cases a few thousand dollars has had a significant 'ripple effect' enabling a community group to leverage other support and attract more members." The New Zealand National Parks and Conservation Foundation is an independent charitable trust established to promote and support the protection of New Zealand's unique natural heritage. Executive Director Jane Arnott says the application forms would be available online from 23 November. Applications close Friday 14 January 2005. << Back |
