See also Dawn Chorus Supporters MOBILMobil's brief to the New Zealand National Parks and Conservation Foundation was to provide and manage links to credible organisations for conservation projects that:
The company subsequently agreed on the three projects listed below. Quail Island (Otamahua) Restoration and Conservation Trust: Ecological restoration, weed control, preservation, predator eradication/ monitoring, seabed monitoring and transport requirements on Quail Island. Motuihe Island Restoration and Conservation Trust: Replanting, weed/pest control, preservation, seed collection, nursery operations and track forming on Motuihe Island including relocation of two endangered bird species. New Zealand Whale and Dolphin Research Trust: Inner harbour boat surveys and related research into the habitat and movement of the North Island Hector Dolphin. AMP FINANCIAL SERVICESRangitoto Island Bach Community and Conservation Project: AMP Financial Services is in the business of wealth creation and asset protection. AMP Financial Services sought a sponsorship opportunity to enable growth in the Auckland market. Demonstrating the company's corporate responsibility in the community alongside community organisations provided a means to reinforce the company's core values and brand positioning. With the help of the Foundation an established conservation group secured sufficient funds to make a major difference to their special project. Former executive director Jocelyn Watkin briefed AMP about the Rangitoto Island Historic Conservation Trust, a community group that was focussed on maintaining and preserving the remaining baches on Rangitoto Island. Built in the 1920's and 1930's, these baches are a reflection of idyllic family holidays. While other baches throughout New Zealand have disappeared under a swathe of modern developments those on Rangitoto had remained and, apart from deterioration, provided a social and architectural time capsule of irreplaceable artefacts. The Foundation will continue to provide sponsorship management expertise throughout the three year partnership to ensure the outcomes required are achieved and there is a definite win/ win for all parties involved. |
